American diplomat, political scientist, and professor.
Condoleezza Rice is the first African American Secretary of State under President George W. Bush and was the first woman to serve as National Security Advisor for President Bush as well. Rice earned her PhD from University of Denver, and taught Political science at Stanford from 1981-1993. In 1986, she was a Special Assistant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff working on nuclear strategic planning and foreign relations. In 2009, Rice returned to the Hoover Institute at Stanford and became its director in 2020.
