Yellen is the first woman to hold the US Secretary of Treasury position as of Jan. 26, 2021 and served as the 15th Chair of the US Federal Reserve from 2014-2018, the first woman in that role. Yellen holds a PhD in economics from Yale, has been a professor at Harvard, London School of Economics , and UC Berkeley. Yellen is more concerned with unemployment than inflation, thus she favors lower interest rates, but is somewhat conservative on fiscal policy believing in controlling the national debt.
