American woman’s rights activist and social reformer.

Susan worked in the anti-slavery society. She co-founded the NY Women’s Temperance Society with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and ultimately formed the National American Woman Suffrage Association in 1890 with Stanton. In 1879 a bill was introduced in congress to give women the right to vote (known as the Susan B. Anthony bill). This 19th Amendment to the US constitution was ratified in 1920. After ratification the American Woman’s Suffrage Association was then transformed into the League of Women Voters.
